DESCRIPTION:Mendel & Company completed an extensive remodel for a local, family-owned automotive repair shop. The owner wanted to maximize available shop space in his building by repurposing unused office space. In addition, he wanted to create a meeting area to host local charity groups to give back to the community. Mendel & Company brought in a team of design professionals and guided the design and permit process prior to beginning construction.
The scope of the project included demolition of a large, underutilized mezzanine over the existing office area, and removing a large section of the office area. A large-scale upgrade to the electrical service, addition of an employee break room and additional meeting areas were also incorporated. The owner was able to continue conducting business in a normal fashion during construction.
Mendel & Company completed the project ahead of schedule and proposed several value engineering ideas to save the owner money. The resulting new configuration allowed the owner to increase revenue generation by 25 percent using the new shop space, and to also realize his goal of being able to host local community functions.
