Andy's Frozen Custard
Mendel & Company completed the ground-up construction of a new Frozen Custard concept based in Springfield, Illinois, called Andy's Frozen Custard. This location is the flagship store and the first of many for Andy's in Colorado. Mendel & Company is proud to have been selected as a building partner for Andy's in Colorado very early in the process.
For more than a year before construction, Mendel & Company assisted with site selection, budgeting and planning for this first store in the market. The exciting Andy's design concept features a 22-foot-high, all-glass tower with a lighted rotating custard cone to welcome guests to get their treats. The brightly lit service and lobby areas, and neon banding around the perimeter of the building, evoke a feeling of nostalgia.
Extensive sitework over a redeveloped landfill area allowed the owner to realize his vision of having large, grassy areas surrounding the building where kids can run and play. Another large area will be used in the future for an outdoor concert entertainment area. Full development of the site ? including extension of utilities and construction of a long drive-through lane, as well as some large concrete patio areas ? was a large part of the project. The entire Mendel & Company team is honored to have been a part of this unique and challenging project.
