Arlo’s Mercantile & Dry Goods

Rowland+Broughton Architecture and Urban Design and Mendel & Company Construction are thrilled to team up for the 2010-2011 Rocky Mountain Communities Playhouse Project. When our team learned about the theme: Uniquely Colorado, and the objective: fundraising for RMC’s affordable housing initiatives, Team R+B/Mendel & Co. instantly jumped on board. Architect Shane Martin began a design that is a replica of an 1850s Old Western Mercantile. The precedent for the building was derived from an old Western Colorado town. Mendel & Company meticulously constructed a playhouse that any child would love to call their own. Hence, Arlo’s Mercantile & Dry Goods is now open for business!

Additional opportunities to view this and other playhouses at DIA (1/11/11) and at Denver Botanic Garden’s

Mordecai Children’s Garden (4/6 – 4/15/11). All playhouses will be auctioned off at a special gala on April 16, 2011, with proceeds benefitting programming in heath and nutrition for children and families living in a Rocky Mountain Communities property.
